Beau Monde Authors

This is the first of many pages where we introduce our wonderful Beau Monde Authors. More are coming soon. Enjoy.

Regina Scott

Regina holds the office of President for the Beau Monde chapter for 2011- 2012 and will become Past President 2012-2013. She has been a member of the Beau Monde since 1996 and served as published author liaison and conference chair. She started writing novels in the third grade. Thankfully for literature as we know it, she didn’t actually sell her first novel until she had learned a bit more about writing. Since her first book was published in 1998, her stories have traveled the globe, with translations in many languages including Dutch, German, Italian, and Portuguese. She’s written for both adults and teens, with fourteen novels and four novellas to her credit, all set in the Regency period. She and her husband of over 20 years reside in southeast Washington State. Regina Scott is a decent fencer and owns a historical costume collection that takes up over a third of her large closet. Susan Gee Heino
Susan is the Beau Monde chapter’s President Elect from 2011-2012 and will be President form 2012-2013. She began her writing career as a Theatre student, where she discovered writing plays for others to perform was much easier than memorizing lines and showing up to rehearsal every day. After several years working in forsaken little theatres, she settled into her current role as preacher’s wife and child herder. To preserve her sanity, she took her love of Historical Romance and turned her focus back onto writing. In 2008, she won Romance Writers of America’sprestigious Golden Heart ® Award in the Regency Historical category. She is currently working on her fourth book in a series.

Bronwen Evans, today’s Featured Beau Monde Author, is a New Zealander who loves story – telling – gobbling up movies, books and theatre.

For most of her life, her head has been filled with characters and stories, particularly lovers in angst. But she’d never had the courage to write them down. In 2007, encouraged by a close friend battling a deliberating illness, Bronwen finally started down the path to publication by joining Romance Writers of Australia and Romance Writers of New Zealand.

Bronwen’s first manuscript, INVITATION TO RUIN, was completed late 2009 and was sold by her agent, Melissa Jeglinski of The Knight Agency, to Kensington Publishing early 2010, in a two book deal.

INVITATION TO RUIN was released in March 2011, and received a 4.5 star rating from RT Book Reviews and was well received in Publishers Weekly – Evans’s debut Regency is filled with sizzling romance… Strong characterizations, smooth plotting, and plenty of explicit sex will appeal to fans of modern Regencies. (Mar.)

Bronwen’s second book, INVITATION TO SCANDAL will be released early 2012.

Linda Banche is today’s featured Beau Monde Author and she is going to tell us her writing story.
How Much Do I Know About the Regency? More than I used to. *g* I will never know everything, but part of the fun is finding out new things.
About six years ago, when I got it into my head the idea to write a regency, I looked for library books on the subject. One of the books I found was What Jane Austen Ate and Charles Dickens Knew by Daniel Pool. I was in alt. Here was a list of lots of the things I read about in regencies, but had no idea what they were. Pounds and pence, Parliament sessions, Whitsunday and Michaelmas, quarter days and consols, pelisses, footmen and scullery maids. I was also totally confused. How would I ever remember all this stuff?
I recently reread the book. And, lo and behold, much of the information has become second nature. I guess I’ve learned a lot in the past few years. Some will scoff at the book. What Jane Austen Ate and Charles Dickens Knew covers both the Regency and the Victorian eras, so not everything is valid for the Regency. And the information is general. But the book is a good overview and has an extensive bibliography and a great glossary.
I will always make errors, and I hope my readers will be forgiving because I try to get things right.

Darlene Marshall, today’s Featured Beau Monde Author, longs for more swashbuckling in her life. To fill that void, she writes award-winning historical romance about piracy, privateering and smuggling in 19th C. Florida. Her novels are published in English, German, and Estonian, in digital and print editions.

She loves having a job where driving to the beach in a convertible and drinking mojitos at the end of the day is research, though after the caving trip for The Bride and The Buccaneer she asked them to just leave the bottle. Darlene has lived in North Florida most of her life and is a graduate of the University of Florida. She worked in broadcast news for ten years before realizing she’d much rather make up stories for a living.

She shares her home with her native Floridian husband, two sons who occasionally return to the nest and make snarky comments about pirate porn, a snake who had a cameo role in Smuggler’s Bride, and a dachshund who’s constantly on guard against squirrel encroachment.

Jillian Kent, today’s Featured Beau Monde Author, has been writing for years and now her dream is coming true.

She is also a full-time counselor for nursing students, has a masters degree in social work, and is fascinated with human behavior and how our minds work. Because she works in contemporary society she thought it would be fun and interesting to explore what might have happened in a lunatic asylum in Regency England. That’s just a snippet of how her story idea was conceived and she hopes you will escape into the past with her and find faith for the future. You’ll enjoy this journey.

Jillian is more than enthusiastic about the release of her first book, Secrets of the Heart, The Ravensmoore Chronicles, Book One ( Coming May 2011) and is thrilled that Romantic Times gave Secrets of the Heart 4 STARS! Stefanie Sloane, today’s Featured Beau Monde Author, is a native Northwesterner with the pale skin to prove it.

Stefanie credits her parents’ eclectic reading habits—not to mention their decision to live in the middle of nowhere—for her love of books. A childhood spent lost in the pages of countless novels led Stefanie to college where she majored in English.

No one was more surprised than Stefanie when she actually put her degree to use and landed a job in Amazon.com’s Books editorial department. She spent over five years reading for a living before retiring to concentrate on her own stories.

Stefanie currently resides with her family in Seattle.
